Pétanque – A Fun Game for All Ages
Originating in 1907 in La Ciotat, southern France, Pétanque is a popular game enjoyed by players of all ages. The objective is simple: try to toss a metal ball, called a boule, as close as possible to the small wooden ball, known as the jack. Players take turns throwing their boules, and the one who lands closest to the jack wins the round. It’s a game of skill, patience, and friendly competition, making it a great way to spend time with family and friends in the serene surroundings of the resort.
Rules of Pétanque:
- The game starts with one player tossing the jack a certain distance.
- Players then take turns throwing their boules towards the jack, trying to get as close as possible.
- The goal is to have your boule closer to the jack than your opponent’s.
- The game continues until all boules have been thrown, and the player with the closest boule scores points.
Kubb – A Fun Combination of Bowling and Horseshoes
Another exciting game you can enjoy at the Pétanque court is Kubb. Originating from Sweden, Kubb is a game of strategy and precision where players aim to knock over wooden blocks, known as kubbs, by throwing wooden batons, or kastpinnar. Kubb can be compared to a mix of bowling and horseshoes, making it a fun and engaging activity for families and groups.
Rules of Kubb:
- The objective is to knock down the kubbs on the opposing team’s side by tossing kastpinnar.
- The team that successfully knocks down all their kubbs and finally hits the king in the center wins the game.
